It has been almost two weeks now since the July 18 explosion at 41st Street and Lexington Avenue, an area that became known as The Frozen Zone. Gradually the streets surrounding the area were cleaned up and reopened. On July 23, it was reported that the slow and methodical clean up was difficult for those who lived in the area of the explosion. As a result of the explosion some businesses were forced to close. Televised news reported individual business losses reaching more than ten thousand dollars.
Does this seem overly simplistic? Solutions are the most common sense of all the ones out there. Once I was stranded at a rest area along a major interstate. My car would not start and I could do nothing to get it moving. After an hour of waiting the Tow Truck Services came and ferried my car to a nearby shop. The $235 problem turned out to be an empty gas tank.
The postcards might seem a bit weird, but it’s nice to be able to drop the kids or other family members a line from the road. Carry them with stamps already on them, and write them while you’re waiting for your coffee or lunch. This gives you something to do and it’s a nice touch for the loved ones. If you don’t have any loves ones you can always write to your enemies and make them madly jealous.
All you need to do to get this started is to get a hold of your preferred charitable group. Better yet, find an agent who will do all the work for your. They can make all the plans, including getting the Tow Truck Company, providing the right forms and handling all the paperwork.
WINTER TIRES. Winter tires present better traction in snowy and icy conditions. Their tread patterns and tread compounds are particularly designed for winter conditions. These tires carry out higher not solely in snow, but in addition in slush and rain. And so they’re generally quieter than the snow tire. Look for the snowflake/mountain image which implies they are licensed to have met specific snow traction requirements.
I picked up a sheet metal screw on my rear tire, it was wedged in one of the grooves and slowly leaking air. I don’t remember the bike handling funny as I rode to work this morning but there you go.
For longer trips you may have a few more things to put into the tankbag. The first is your thermos. Full of hot coffee in winter or cold water in summer, this is a welcome source of fluid by the side of the road. And at least you know you can get decent coffee!
Currently, the longest travel insurance coverage is by DBS/POSB for 1 year at SGD382.50 worldwide. Guess it is a sign of keeping it to a 1-year timeline per trip. Who knows, maybe there are 3-year insurance policies in the near future!
